Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Process
Artists are eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record; inductees must have had a significant impact on the development, evolution and preservation of rock & roll. This includes the categories of solo or group performers; early influences (artists who pre-date the birth of rock & roll but impacted it’s evolution and artists); and non-performers (songwriters, producers, dj’s, executives, journalist, etc.) that influence rock & roll.
The top five performers receiving the most votes become that year’s induction class. Since 2012, fans can vote for their favorite nominees and the fans top five vote-getters form one ballot, which is weighted the same as the rest of the submitted ballots.
