How to Create a Personal Zen Oasis of Self-Care

Staying at home doesn’t have to be that bad. You may have thought that going out, partying and coming home late, are sure ways to be happy and feel connected to those around you, but in reality that’s not always the case. Spending time with those you love, and enjoying outdoor activities, is always welcome, but sometimes, being by yourself can be equally beneficial for your well-being.

Choosing to look at the option of staying home in that light, can lead you to a new path of self-care and self-love, so here are some ideas to help you get started.

Adopt new and positive habits

People are often led to believe that being of “a certain age” leaves very little room to adopt new habits and improve, but that’s not accurate. In fact, being older means more time for yourself, so rather than chasing the fountain of youth, it’s much better to start changing your routine and let it come to you.

You can wake up earlier, have a nutritious breakfast, exercise in the morning, and then continue with the rest of your day. As long as you aim to replace existing unfavourable habits with more productive and positive habits, you should be proud of yourself.

Give yourself permission to relax

In many cultures, women are conditioned to be there for others and put themselves last, which is why they also struggle to relax and enjoy themselves, even in moments that don’t require them to be busy or hardworking.

Therefore, it’s essential to give yourself some time off, but rather than just slapping on the first moisturizer you find, take your time and do the whole beauty routine without feeling guilty or rushed.

For example, make time to prepare a nourishing DIY face mask, and try to do something uplifting while you’re waiting for it to do its magic. So, rather than doing all the housework that you’ve forgotten about, make sure to sit down, relax, sip a glass of wine or aromatic tea and enjoy this moment of tranquility and self-care.

Create enjoyable, little routines

Routines are what make us better people, so if you’re struggling with finding one, take a moment to realize that routines are all around you. Everything you do every day is a type of routine. So, adopting routines for your body parts, your face and your hair can only contribute to your overall self-esteem and beauty.

You can start with your hair, because hair is often what people see first, and it deserves proper care and nourishment. Begin by gently washing your hair with a mild shampoo appropriate for your hair type, then add some conditioner (preferably without silicones), and finally, style your hair any way you please. You can use organic styling products like a nourishing and natural hair wax made of ingredients such as beeswax, that will provide you with long hold and soft locks at the same time.

Create a relaxing and soothing atmosphere

Finding time for self-care is great, but in order to make your zen experience the best, you should also make sure to create a relaxing atmosphere free from stress and day-to-day annoyances. Lighting scented candles and playing soothing music can do wonders for your peace of mind.

Before anything else, it’s important to de-clutter your home so you can focus on what matters the most – yourself and your personal betterment. Convert some extra space into your personal self-care zen oasis, and keep it free from negativity and resentment (your own and that of other people). If you lack that extra space, than any corner will do, as long as you keep it clean, well-maintained and appealing.

Enrich your space with a few plants

Some greenery can make your home look and feel better, which is why plants are such a popular home decor choice. If you don’t like to spend a lot of time nursing plants, you can always choose ones that are easy to maintain – but still, make sure to mind them on a regular basis.

Your self-care journey will feel more fulfilling, knowing that there’s an extra supply of oxygen all around you. Take some time to choose plants that will go well with the rest of your decor choices, so your space will look well-balanced and neat.

Conclusion

Self-care is something we should all do regardless of our age, gender, and social status. Remember that you don’t need high-end products to keep your skin, hair, and body looking fresh, just make sure to create a healthy routine that will work well with your daily life

Finally, it’s also important to make your personal zen oasis space stress and clutter-free so you will feel motivated and energized at any given moment that you want to enjoy it.
